By sizes, I think you mean types...lol. All hair can be mostly categorized by curl type. To figure out your curl type, look at your curl pattern. According to hairstylist Vernon Francois, “The flatter or more oval shaped the follicle, the curlier your hair; while the more circular the cross-section, the straighter your hair.” So we use four categories to describe curl type: straight, wavy, curly, and kinky/coily. There are also different subcategories for each curl pattern (A, B, and C). These classifications are based on the diameter of the curl; A is the widest pattern size, B is medium, and C is the smallest. Quite often hair type falls along racial lines--with black Americans having curlier or kinkier types.
